In 2004, L'Association FOCUS ART Association was founded by five artists eager to form a circle of support and expertise in Cornwall as well as Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry. The need was there. The art association has been growing ever since.
In 2010 L'Association Focus Art Association became an official
Corporation # 1810432
The Objectives of L'Association FOCUS ART Association are :
1. Promote the visual arts, especially painting, photography, pottery, sculpture in the area of Eastern Ontario, in English as well as in French.
2. Offer residents of Eastern Ontario the possibility of discovering works of art and this by means of organized activities such as exhibitions ;
3. Offer artists of Eastern Ontario opportunities to create alone or in groups works of art;
4. Offer artists of all origins opportunities to have their art known by residents of Eastern Ontario;
5. Actualize all other objectives compatible with these objectives.
The Logo :
The logo was designed by Tracy-Lynn Chisholm and Candice Nixon as a result of a contest offered by Focus Art.
Meetings :
Members of L'Association FOCUS ART Association meet on the first Wednesday of every month of the year except July and August at Le Centre Charles Emile-Claude, 146 Chévrier ave. (behind Nativité Church, Cornwall).
At each monthly general meetings some of these activities occur:
** constructive critique through: "Share your art."
** participation in the ongoing decisions of the association
** sharing of portfolios
** demonstration of skills and techniques
** planning a community event
** socializing over coffee and cookies
General Meeting :
The Annual General Meeting is in April. At this time a new executive is elected and a financial statement is presented for approval to the members..
Communications :
The Website www.focusartonline.org informs the community of what is going on in the visual arts in the area. This site also serves as a catalogue of talented artists the community might want to consult when in need of art work....
Communication is regular and frequent from the desk of the secretary who e-mails the members news and pertinent information as well as maintains the Blog up to date.
A Newsletter keeps members informed of news of the association and local events and activities and is sent directly to paid-up members,
Main Activities :
The Association' major activities at this time are :
1) The Annual Juried Show in the Fall at the Cornwall Public Library.
2) The Members' Show at the Public Library in the Spring
3) Participation in regional exhibitions such as Le Corrid'ART (Centre culturel de Cornwall), Salon des Arts.
4 ) Art workshops for children during March break in partnership with the Cornwall Square.
5) Several workshops on different art techniques.

À PROPOS DE NOUS
Les Objectifs de Focus Arts sont :
1. Faire la promotion des arts visuels notament la peinture, la photographie, la poterie et la sculpture, dans la région de l'est de l'Ontario, tant en langue française qu'en langue anglaise;
2. Offrir aux résidents de l'est de l'Ontario la possibilité de découvrir des oeuvres d'art, et ce, via l'organisation d'activités,notamment des expositions;
3. Offrir aux artistes de l'est de l'Ontario des opportunités de créer, seuls ou en groupe, des oeuvres d'art;
4. Offrir aux artistes de toutes origines des opportunités de faire connaître aux résidents de l'est de l'Ontario leurs oeuvres d'art;
5. Réaliser tout autre objectif compatible avec ces objectifs.
Le Logo :
Le logo est la création de Tracy-Lynn Chisholm et Candice Nixon, un résultat d'un concours initié par

Les réunions :
Les membres se rencontrent le premier mercredi de chaque mois excepté en juillet et août au Centre Charles Emile-Claude, 146 Chévrier ave. (derrère l'église Nativité , Cornwall). à 19h00.
À ces réunions les membres peuvent:
** bénéficier d’une critique constructive de leur travail : Partager son art’
** assister à une présentation
** contribuer à la prise de décisions de l’association
** partager leur portfolio
** démontrer une habileté, une technique etc...
** planifier une activité communautaire
** socialiser en prenant café et biscuit
Assemblée annuelle :
La Réunion générale de L'Association FOCUS ART Association a lieu en avril; à cette réunion le Conseil d’administration est élu et un rapport financier est présenté.
Communication :
Le Site web www.focusartonline.org informent la communauté des activités dans le domaine des arts visuels. Le site sert aussi de catalogue réunissant un inventaire d’artistes disponibles à la communauté cherchant à acheter l’art local.
La Communication se fait régulièrement par le moyen de couriel parvenant de la secrétaire qui s'occupe aussi du Blog..
Un Newsletter est envoyé aux membres par moyen de leur courriel pour informer des activités de l'association et de la communauté culturel.
Activités majeures :
1) L’exposition par jury à l’automne à la Bibliothèque municipale de Cornwall et
2) Une exposition thématique pour les membres à la bibliothèque
3) Participation aux expositions de la régions par ex. Le Corrid'ART (Centre culturel de Cornwall), Salon des Arts.
4 ) Organiser des ateliers d'art pour les enfants pendant la pause d'hiver en partenariat avec le Cornwall Square.
5) Plusieurs ateliers sur différentes techniques artistiques.

L'Association FOCUS ART Association est dirigée par un Conseil d'administration composé de bénévoles qui sont des membres en règle et élus à l'Assemblée générale au mois d'avril.
